2N2222 60V 0.8A NPN General Purpose Transistor

The 2N2222, PN2222A, MMBT2222A is a NPN transistor hence the collector and emitter will be left open (Reverse biased) when the base pin is held at ground and will be closed (Forward biased) when a signal is provided to base pin. BT222A has a maximum gain value of 300; this value determines the amplification capacity of the transistor. The maximum amount of current that could flow through the Collector pin is 600mA, hence we cannot connect loads that consume more than 600mA of continuous current and 800mA of peak current. To bias a transistor we have to supply current to base pin, this current (IB) should be limited to 5mA with a base emitter voltage of 6V. The maximum voltage across the load that is getting switched is 40V.

This transistor is the SMD equivalent for the popular 2N2222A transistor, which his commonly used in many switching circuits to control low current loads like pumps, solenoids, LEDs etc.. The transistor also has an equivalent PNP transistor called MMBT2907A, both combined together can be used to form push pull circuits or Class B amplifier Designs.
